Mamie Ida Dorlac, 91, of Festus died July 26, 2020, at Crystal Oaks Nursing Center in Crystal City. Mrs. Dorlac was a cook for the monks at the St. Pius X Benedictine Abbey in Pevely and a babysitter for numerous local families. She was a longtime member of the Emmanuel Baptist Church of De Soto, where she served many years on the kitchen committee, in the angel ministries and on the craft committee. She enjoyed traveling with local senior citizen groups. Born May 12, 1929, in Knob Lick, she was the daughter of the late Elsie Laura (Marshall) and Alford Rudy Clark.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Clarence Edward Dorlac.
She is survived by a daughter: Carol (Tom) Sanguinette-How of Festus; three sons: Gary (Jane) Dorlac of Festus, Ronald (Brenda) Dorlac of Weldon, Iowa, and Donald Dorlac of Herculaneum; a brother: Donald (Nancy) Clark of Park Hills; 14 grandchildren: Christopher Sanguinette, Jason (Katie) Dorlac, Jeremy (Amber) Dorlac, Dustin (Sarah) Dorlac, Christopher (Jennifer) Sullivan, Sarah Jane (Todd) Oelzen, Charlene (Bas) Rowden-Boshuizen, Jessica (Aaron) Barnett, Colby Dorlac, Robyn Hartman, Christine (the late James) VanOver-Romans, Jeffrey VanOver, MaryJean Dorlac and DorisAnn Dorlac; numerous great-grandchildren; and many other family members and friends.
She also was preceded in death by four sisters: Viola Clark, Goldie (the late Barney) Walker, Lorene (the late Jim) Walker and Leona (the late Homer) Wines; four brothers: Audrey Clark, Melvin (the late Marie) Clark, Lloyd Clark and Cecil (the late Irene) Clark; and a step-daughter: Patricia (Dorlac) VanOver-Matkin.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral services at 1 p.m. Saturday (Aug. 1) at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus, officiated by Brother Rich Grayson. Burial will be in the Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to Emmanuel Baptist Church. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
