Lovell Caraway, 80, of Olivette died Oct. 24, 2021. Mr. Caraway grew up in Arkansas and moved to Missouri when he began high school. He earned his bachelor’s and master’s degrees from Washington University, then taught mathematics for 31 years. He served as music director for several churches and as a camp director during the summers. In later years, mission trips and volunteer teaching assignments were a fulfilling part of his life. Born Feb. 12, 1941, in Arkansas, he was the son of the late Ellis and Alpha Caraway.
He is survived by his wife: Johanna; a brother: Allen (Linda) Caraway; three daughters: Debbie (Steve) Atchison, Pamela (Frank Stein) Caraway, Lynda (Al) Boulicault; six grandchildren: Jake Atchison, A.J. Atchison, Christopher Stein, Juliana Stein, Cate (Tyler) Perry and Meghan Boulicault; and many other family members.
Memorials may be made to the Gideons International. Services are private. Arrangements are under the direction of Travis-Noe Funeral Home in Kirksville.
