Lloyd Edward “Ed” Dennis, 84, of Festus died June 9, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Dennis served in the Missouri National Guard for 24 years and was a retired bailiff for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Office. He enjoyed range shooting, traveling, being outdoors watching deer and birds, and spending time with his family. Born April 16, 1937, in Fredericktown, he was the son of the late Fern (Polete) and Lloyd Dennis.
He is survived by his wife: Sylvie (Hudson) Dennis; three sons: Kevin (Karla) Dennis of Festus, Tom (Karen) Dennis of Herculaneum and Matthew (Nancy) Dennis of Crystal City; eight grandchildren: Kyle, Kasey, Brent, Zachary, Joshua, Megan, Ashlyn and Kaitlyn Dennis; and a great-granddaughter: Elizabeth Murray.
He was preceded in death by two sisters: Anne Louise (the late Harry) Tripp and Wanda (the late Willard) LaPlant.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 2 p.m. until a memorial service at 4 p.m. Friday, June 18, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
