Linn Edward Duncan, 87, of Pevely died Jan. 26, 2021, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Duncan served in the U.S. Marines during the Korean War. He was a retired technical writer for Lucent Technologies. He also was a member of Herculaneum United Methodist Church, VFW Post 3777, the Communication Workers of America, the AT&T Pioneers and the former Pevely Lions Club. He was a Pevely alderman for five years and served on the city’s Park Board. Born Aug. 22, 1933, in Flat River, he was the son of the late Harold Edward and Lorene Sarah (Williams) Duncan.
He is survived by his wife: Bonnie Lou (Kennon) Duncan; two daughters: Kelly (Tom) Sims of Ellisville and Kerry (Jeff) Patek of Festus; a son: Kent (Laura) Duncan of St. Louis; three brothers: Jack (Betty) Duncan of Desloge, Don (Elly) Duncan of Lincoln, Calif., and Larry Duncan of Colorado; six grandchildren: Kayla Patek, Adam Sims, John Sims, Donna (Joe) Friedhoff, Faith Duncan and Nathaniel Duncan; and three great-grandchildren: Kellyn, Joseph and Audrey Friedhoff.
He was preceded in death by a granddaughter: Jessica Lynn Patek.
A graveside service with full military honors will be held at 1 p.m. Friday (Jan. 29) in the Presbyterian/Methodist Cemetery in Festus, officiated by Pastor Jimmy Samson of Herculaneum United Methodist Church. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, 262 Danny Thomas Place, Memphis, TN, 38105, or Ride On St. Louis, P.O. Box 94, Kimmswick, 63053. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
