Linda Kay (Carter) DeHaven, 74, of Prescott, Wis., formerly of House Springs, died Dec. 26, 2022, in Chico, Calif. Mrs. DeHaven graduated from Bishop DuBourg High School in 1966 and earned a bachelor’s degree in chemistry from Fontbonne University in 1970. She pursued graduate studies at Louisiana State University. She worked as a chemist in the petroleum industry, ensuring compliance with workplace safety and environmental protection. Born Feb. 13, 1948, at Deaconess Hospital in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Richard and Inez (Hutchinson) Carter.
She is survived by her husband: Samuel Jerome “Jerry” DeHaven of Prescott, Wis.; whom she dated in college and then reconnected with in the 2000s; two stepdaughters: Elizabeth DeHaven and Laura DeHaven, both of Prescott, Wis.; a stepson: John (Pam) Maynard of Tyler, Texas; a brother: Robert Carter Sr.; and many other family members and friends.
She was preceded in death by a brother: Richard Carter Jr.; and two sisters-in-law: Judy (Stohldrier) Carter and Arlynne Swanson.
Visitation is scheduled from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at noon Monday, Jan. 9, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Burial is in Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
