Lester Meyer, 89, of Cedar Hill died Feb. 12, 2018, at SSM Health St. Clare Hospital in Fenton. Mr. Meyer was retired from Cupples Inc. in Maplewood, where he worked as an expeditor for 30 years. He and his family raised a large garden and strawberry patch on their property and sold their bounty to friends and neighbors. He was an avid fisherman, and he enjoyed playing horseshoes and hunting. Born Oct. 23, 1928, he was the son of the late William G. and Ella (Cronk) Meyer.

He is survived by his wife of 70 years: Margaret Mary (Sprock) Meyer; one daughter: JoAnn Margaret (Kenneth) Breher of Cedar Rapids, Iowa; three sons: Darrell Edward of High Ridge, Michael William (Brenda) of House Springs and Keith Alan (Ann) of Crane; nine grandchildren: Michael Jr., Jeremy, Kimberly, Sarah, Katie, Kendall, Amanda, Tiffany and Andrea; seven great-grandchildren: Allyson, Lucy, Everly, Brandon, Nolan, Gavin and Ryan; and one sister: Marie Leutkemeyer.

He was preceded in death by three sisters: Betty Gibbs, Laverne Easter and Leona Maxwell.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 15, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Funeral services will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 16, at the funeral home. Burial will be at Chapel HillMemorialGardens. Memorials may be made to Our Lady Queen of Peace Catholic Church, 4696 Notre Dame Lane, House Springs 63051. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
