Leonard Phillip Schmidt, 85, of Fenton died Nov. 29, 2020, at his home. Mr. Schmidt was a carpenter and a member of Local 97, retiring after 65 years. He was a member of Our Savior Lutheran Church. Born July 13,1935, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Elizabeth (Kulmann) and John Schmidt.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 65 years: Susan (Duesterhaus) Schmidt, whom he married on Dec. 11, 1955; two children: Daniel (Pam) Schmidt of Lake St. Louis and Carol “Carrie” (Alan) Bolt of Crystal City; a sister: Laura Breuer of St. Louis; seven grandchildren: Angela (Jason) Armstrong, Brittany (Kyle) Zumsteg, Taylor (Luke) Schmidt, Rebecca Brewer, Neal Brewer, Dominic Bolt and Sabrina Bolt; one great-grandchild: Louelle Jane Armstrong; and many nieces and nephews, cousins and friends.
He was preceded in death by five siblings: Elmer (Frances) Abmeyer, Dorothy (James) Arnone, Florence (Patrick) Heller, (Edgar) Breuer, Roy (Mary Ann) Schmidt.
A memorial service was held Dec. 3 at Our Saviour Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Mark Sell. Memorials may be made to Our Savior Lutheran Church, 1500 San Simeon Way,
