Leonard Aloysius Kohler, 87, Arnold

Leonard Aloysius Kohler, 87, of Arnold died Aug. 12, 2022. Mr. Kohler was a lineman and forestry worker for Ameren before retiring. He was an avid woodworker and beekeeper. He was a grand knight, district deputy and honor guard member for Knights of Columbus Council 2333 in Imperial. He was involved with the community and with Immaculate Conception Catholic Church in Arnold, where he served in the Men's Club and co-created an athletic organization and field maintenance program. He also volunteered as a groundskeeper at the Liguori Chapel. Born Dec. 11, 1934, in Kimmswick, he was the son of the late Anna Marie (Durand) and Leonard C. Kohler and stepson of the late Mildred (Ziegelmeyer) Kohler.

He is survived by his wife of 64 years: Geraldine (Diel) Kohler; four siblings: Alvera (the late Robert Sr.) Byrne, James (the late Ann Marie and former wife Carole survives), William and Charles; two half-brothers: Ambrose and Thomas; six children: Kathleen (Steven) Kohler Schwartz, Teresa (Mark) Kohler Davis, Leonard Kohler Jr., Caroline (Gareth) Kohler Harris, Valerie (Dennis) Kohler Jurkowski and Ann Marie (Paul) Van Meter; 11 grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; one great-great-grand-child and many other family members and friends.

He was preceded in death by five siblings: Raymond (Judy survives), Anna Diel (the late John), Richard (former wife MaryAnn survives), Joseph (the late Fran) and infant brother George.

Visitation will be from 5-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 18, at Kutis South County Chapel, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, in St. Louis County. At 9:30 a.m. Friday, Aug. 19, a procession from the funeral home will go to Immaculate Conception Catholic Church, 2300 Church Road, in Arnold, where a 10 a.m. Mass will be held. Burial will follow at in Immaculate Conception Cemetery in Arnold.

Memorials may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home.
