Leman Genedale Mahurin, 85, of Hillsboro died May 9, 2020, at Missouri Veterans Home in Cape Girardeau. Mr. Mahurin owned and operated the Mahurin Insurance Agency for 30 years. He played minor league baseball for the St. Louis Cardinals organization and also played for and served in the U.S. Army. He was a charter member of the South County Kiwanis Club. He was born Nov. 21, 1934, in Elvins, the son of the late Cletus and Louise (Young) Mahurin.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years: Alpha (Lix) Mahurin; a daughter: Tammy (Christopher) Mazdra; a son: Leman Genedale (Kandye) Mahurin Jr.; five grandchildren, Amber, Bethany (Dylan Baker) and Jaime Mazdra and David (Linday) and Andrew Mahurin.
He was preceded in death by five brothers: Lenuel, Sterling “Bud,” James Alvin, Rayburin and Dwight Pete Mahurin.
Visitation will be held from 5-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 12, at C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home, 1116 N. Desloge Drive, Desloge and from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. Wednesday, May 13, at the funeral home, immediately followed by funeral services officiated by Wayne Norris. Burial will be at St. Francois Memorial Park, Bonne Terre. Arrangements are under the direction of C.Z. Boyer and Son Funeral Home.
