Leatha L. Schaper, 76, of Arnold died Aug. 24, 2018, in St. Louis. Mrs. Schaper was a homemaker and a member of the Missouri Botanical Gardens, the Orchid Society of Greater St. Louis and the Prairie State Orchid Society. Born Oct. 13, 1941, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Marie (Krietler) and Walter “Cy” DeClue.
She is survived by her husband: Kenneth G. Schaper; three daughters: Judy (Kevin) Luther of Eureka, Cheryl (Kurt) Dummerth of Arnold and Kathi (Andy) Allen of Arnold; six grandchildren: Monica (Bill) Nix, Stacie Luther, Elisabeth (Vi) Nguyen, Kelli Dummerth and Brendan and Nick Allen; and three grandchildren: Mariah Summer, Ella Nix and Kinbre Nguyen.
She was preceded in death by two grandsons: Scott and Bryan Dummerth.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 30, at Kutis Funeral Home, 5255 Lemay Ferry Road, in south St. Louis. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Friday, Aug. 31, at St. David Catholic Church, 2334 Tenbrook Road, Arnold. Burial is in Assumption Cemetery in Herculaneum. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or the Orchid Society of Greater St. Louis. Arrangements are under the direction of Kutis Funeral Home.
