Larry K. Siders, 81, of Crystal City died July 5, 2021, at his home. Mr. Siders was a retired Illinois state trooper and the owner/operator of Larry Siders Cabinet Shop and Carpentry. He was a Vietnam War veteran of the U.S. Air Force and a member of Radiant Life Church in Festus, a life member of the Fraternal Order of Police and a member of American Legion Post 253. He will be remembered as generous and full of jokes and stories from his time with the state patrol. He was an animal lover and an expert woodworker who enjoyed making projects in his workshop. Born Feb. 4, 1940, in Dawson, Ill., he was the son of the late Eva (Workman) and Lloyd Siders.
He is survived by his wife: Deloris Jane (Haffer) Siders; a son: Rob Siders of Sylvania, Ohio; three daughters: Julie (Brett) Thompson of Monticello, Ill., Erin (Sara) Siders of Champaign, Ill., and Angie Siders of St. Louis; four stepchildren: Connie (Gary) Doss of Farmington, Carl (Sandy) Harmon of Crystal City, Sherri (Raymond) Matchell of Festus and Susie (Marty) Evans of Festus; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by four brothers: Earl (the late Anna Bell) Siders, Stacey (Barbara) Siders, Nick (Linda) Siders and Gene Siders; and a sister: Marjorie (the late Gene).
A graveside memorial service with full military honors will be held at a later date in the Haffer Cemetery in Steelville. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
