Larry Ernest Propst Sr., 75, of Festus died Jan. 1, 2014, at his home. Mr. Propst was a retired auto worker with Chrysler Corp. and a longtime bus driver for Huskey Bus Lines in Festus. He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and a member of New Testament Baptist Church in Festus, where he served as a deacon. Born Aug. 3, 1938, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Lydia (Crandell) and Thara Propst.
He is survived by his wife Rebecca (Martin) Propst; two sons: James (Karen)Thara Propst of Herculaneum and Larry (Lisa) Propst Jr. of Festus; a brother, Donald Propst of Festus; four grandchildren: Andrew (Kayla) Propst, Lauren (Aaron) Ashlock, Zachary Propst and Nathan Propst; two great-grandchildren: Caroline Ashlock and Jameson Propst; and numerous nieces.
Visitation is scheduled from 3-8 p.m. Monday, Jan. 6, at Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus. Funeral services will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan. 7, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Bob Vittoe. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the Hospice at Mercy Hospital Jefferson. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
