Kenneth Lee Els, 77, of Hartselle, Ala., died Sept. 1, 2021. Mr. Els grew up and lived most of his life in Hillsboro. He was a U.S. Navy veteran and a retired construction worker and member of the Carpenter’s Union Local 2214. He was born Sept. 29, 1943, in St. Louis, the son of the late John and Mary Pearl (Cary) Els.
He is survived by his wife: Kathryn (Bohmie) Els: three daughters, Shantel (Cameron) Layman of Madison, AL; Jannell (Brian) Barefoot and Jennifer (Jeromy) Diebler both of Franklin, TN: seven grandchildren; Zachary, Abigail, Elias, Joshua, Levi, Hutch, and Sadie: four brothers; Milton “Gene” (Linda) Els of Hillsboro, Robert (Linda) Els of Greenfield, Dennis (Doris) Els of Centralia, Ill., and David (Karen) Els of Littleton, N.C.; and many other relatives.
A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 25, at First Baptist Church of Hillsboro. Memorials may be made the family at 2606 Dogwood Circle NW, Hartselle, AL 35640. Arrangements were under the direction of Peck Funeral Home in Hartselle.
