Kenneth James Werner, 83, of Festus died Aug. 24, 2021, in Stuart, Fla. Mr. Werner was a cabinetmaker and worked in the construction industry, building several apartments on Vine Street in Festus. He owned the Plastic Veneers store in Festus and worked for the Waggoner Store, then was a salesman for an irrigation company in Florida. He was a paratrooper in the U.S. Army. He was a Catholic and a volunteer for Habitat for Humanity. Born Jan. 1, 1938, in Lawrenceton, he was the son of Sylvesta (Govero) of Bethalto, Ill., and the late Leonard Werner.
He is survived by his wife: Linda (Simms) Werner of Hobe Sound, Fla.; three children: Bruce (Mary Lakeland) Werner of Florida; Susan (Don Calhoun) Holley of Georgia and Teresa McCarthy of Port St. Lucie, Fla.; five siblings: Mary Jane (Glenn) Kiepe of Festus, Sy (Judy) Werner of Neosho, Cindy (Bob) Helmkamp of Bethalto, Ill.; Dale (Karen) Werner of Festus and Terry (Laurie) Werner of St. Louis; a sister-in-law: Arlene DeGonia of Hillsboro; seven grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
Memorial service will be at 11 a.m. Saturday, Oct. 23, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 555 Bailey Road, Crystal City.
