Kelly Manet Hicks, 43, of Festus died Aug. 20, 2017, at her home. Ms. Hicks worked many years as a CNA/MA-1 at local area nursing centers. She loved horses and her rescue kitty, Meep, and was especially fond of her friends at the VFW and American Legion. If she met a member of the military in public, she would always introduce herself and thank them for their service. Born March 14, 1974, in Town and Country, she was the daughter of Nancy Lou (Howell) Hicks of Franklin, N.C. and Ted E. (Dianne) Hicks of Festus.
In addition to her parents and stepmother, she is survived by a daughter: Marigan DeClue of Fenton; two stepsisters: Kristie Williams of Festus and Danielle (Robert) Lawson of Springfield, Ill.; two stepbrothers: Michael Lawson of Festus and David (Ashley) Lawson of Florida; and her godmother: Sylvia Bach of Glendale.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Destiny DeClue.
A memorial gathering is at 1 p.m. and a memorial service at 2 p.m. Thursday, Aug. 31, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus, officiated by the Rev. Terry Crank. A celebration of life will follow at VFW Post 3777, 900 VFW Drive, in Festus. Memorials may be made VFW Post 3777 or American Legion Post 253. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
