Keith Lawrence Ruess, 58, of Barnhart died Sept. 21, 2022, at Evelyn’s House in Creve Coeur. Mr. Ruess was a police officer for 27 years, working in law enforcement for the cities of Herculaneum and Pevely. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends and doing activities with his friends and his dogs. Born April 21, 1964, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Rose (Rogan) and William Ruess.
He is survived by his significant other of 30 years: Lisa (Portell) Massa of Barnhart; two children: Brittany (Aaron Maddy) Ruess of Columbia and Matthew Ruess of St. Louis; two siblings: Richard (Diana Henry) Ruess of Flagstaff, Ariz., and Linda (Charles) Milcic of Barnhart; two nephews: Corey Milcic of Barnhart and Mykal Bates of De Soto; a niece: Bella Whittley of De Soto; close friends Jim Pashia of Pevely, Kenny and Dodie Graves of Hillsboro, Randy and Jodi Miller of Crystal City, and John Zufall of Festus; and his dogs: Sammy Hagar and Louie Oswald.
A celebration of life will be private for family and friends. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
