Kay Loretta Smith, 72, of De Soto died Feb. 14, 2021, at her home. Mrs. Smith enjoyed living a simple life. She also enjoyed reading and animals. She especially loved spending time with her family. Born Sept. 20, 1948, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Clyde W. Elrod and Edith (Conway) Elrod-Woodson.
She is survived by her husband: Joseph Kenneth “Joe” Smith of De Soto; two children: Susan (Clint Thomas) Schouviller of St. Louis and Dawn (Sean) Stefanski of Hillsboro; a brother: Douglas (Becky) Elrod of St. Louis; four grandchildren: Joseph Dickerson, Courtney Schouviller, Nicole Stefanski and Colton Schouviller; one great-grandchild on the way; and many other family and friends.
Visitation will be from noon to 4 p.m. Saturday (Feb. 27) at Mahn Funeral Home, 900 N. Main St., in De Soto. Memorials may be made to Open Door Animal Sanctuary in House Springs. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home.
