Karl William Walker Sr., 73, of De Soto died Nov. 19, 2021, at his home. Mr. Walker worked at the Chrysler Corp. plant in Fenton and was a member of United Auto Workers Local 136. He served in the U.S. Navy during the Vietnam War. He enjoyed the outdoors, especially deer hunting. Born Dec. 20, 1947, in De Soto, he was the son of Thelma (Johnson) and Woodrow T. “Pop” Walker Sr., although he celebrated his birthday on Dec. 21 because the doctor was late arriving to his parents’ home.
He is survived by his wife: Sandra “Sandy” (Venz) Walker; two sons: Karl (Michelle) Walker Jr. of De Soto and John (Becca) Walker of Festus; a sister: Alice Ann Aubuchon of Festus; four brothers: Woodrow (Terri) Walker Jr. of De Soto, Fred (Wanda) Walker of Maryville, La., Robert (Peggy) Walker of Hillsboro and Steve (Chrissy) Walker of De Soto; five grandchildren: Dustin (Shannon) Walker, Derek (Becca) Walker, Megan Walker, Hannah Walker and Olivia Walker; and a great-granddaughter: Ava.
He was preceded in death by an infant daughter.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Monday, Nov. 22, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Funeral Mass will be at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Nov. 23, at St. Rose of Lima Catholic Church, 504 S. Third St., in De Soto, officiated by Father Alexander Anderson. Burial will be at Woodlawn Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
