Harris, Karen

Karen A. Harris, 57, of Hillsboro, died July 24, 2018, at her home. Mrs. Harris was the longtime owner and operator of A Cut Above salon in Hillsboro, founded in 1990, where she joked with customers that cuts were $20 and therapy was $65. She loved good music, road trips, boating and shopping at her beloved Macy’s. Born July 15, 1961, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Kenneth and Barbara Alexander and James Turner.

Karen is survived by her husband of 38 years: Dan Harris; a son: Craig (Stephanie) Harris of Arnold; a daughter: Leann (Jeff) Broadwater of Festus; two grandchildren: Colton and Kendall; nine siblings: siblings Kevin Turner (Sherry) of Hillsboro, Susan Turner of Hillsboro, Saundra Turner of Hillsboro, Steve Church of St. Louis, Janise (Wayne) Corbitt of Arkansas, Kenneth (Lisa) Alexander of Ware, Brian (Dana) Alexander of Hillsboro, Steve (Colissa) Alexander and Terri Parker Alexander of Alabama; and numerous aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, in-laws, friends and  beloved clients. She was preceded in death by a sister: Linda Alexander.

A celebration of life is scheduled from 4-7 p.m. Sunday, July 29, at LaChance Vinyards, 122337 Peter Moore Lane, in De Soto. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association. Arrangements were under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home in Hillsboro.
