Hastings, Junior

Junior Rowe Hastings, 87, of De Soto died June 26, 2022, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mr. Hastings retired as a quality control engineer from the General Motors auto assembly plant in Wentzville. He was a Korean War veteran of the U.S. Navy. An avid automotive enthusiast, he loved drag racing and his red Corvette. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and spending time with his family. Born Sept. 20, 1934, in Harviell, he was the son of the late Adkins Rowe Hastings and Hattie Lee (Stacy) Hastings. He was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 70 years: Darlene (Murray) Hastings, who died Oct. 2, 2021.

He is survived by three children: Brian (Lisa) Hastings of De Soto, Sherri (Larry) Sacker of Ft. Wayne, Ind., and Rhonda (Jack) Morris of De Soto; three grandchildren: Wesley (Lauren) Hastings, Spencer (Anna) Hastings and Amanda (Joel) Washko; and three great-grandchildren: Rosalie Washko, Bennett Hastings and Wake Washko. He was preceded in death by seven siblings: Charles Hastings, Jewel Hastings, Claude Hastings, Welton Hastings, Dowayne Hastings, Agnes Berry and Ora Lee Kirkley.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, June 30, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home. 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Friday, July 1, at the funeral home, officiated by Leroy Murray. Burial is in the Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto.
