Joyce Lee Massa, 85, of Cadet, formerly of Herculaneum, died May 21, 2017, at Scenic Nursing and Rehab Center in Herculaneum. Mrs. Massa was a hospital and home health nurses aid and a member of McGee Chapel Church in Marble Hill. Born April 23, 1932, in Perkins, she was the daughter of the late Mary “Bertha” (Suttles) and Fred Warner. She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years: Elmer E. “Buck” Massa.
She is survived by two daughters: Janet Lee (Bill) Pollard of Pevely and Lorri Ann Williams of Festus; four sons: Elmer “Joe” (Caren) Massa of Glen Allen, Tony (Lisa) Massa of Blackwell, Mark Allen Massa of Cadet and Angelo (Sheryl) Massa of St. Clair; and numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by two daughters: Caren Denise Davis and A. Elizabeth “Becky” Massa; three sisters: Mildred Seabaugh, Marie Aldridge and Dorothy Elizabeth Warner; four brothers: Noble Warner, Fred Warner, Cecil Warner and Charles Warner; five grandchildren: Bradley Clark, Jacob Laiben, Amanda Davis, Shawn Massa and the Rev. Rick Avila Sr.; and one great-grandson: Ricky Joe Avila Jr.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Tuesday, May 23, at Vinyard Hillcrest Funeral Home, 9115 Commercial Blvd., in Pevely. A funeral service will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, May 24, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Kenneth Massa and the Rev. Steve Doss. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
