Josephine “Jo” Schwartz, 86, of Imperial died July 8, 2016, in Imperial. Mrs. Schwartz was a telephone operator for the Southwestern Bell Telephone Co. and AT&T. She enjoyed making Easter baskets for the Arnold Food Pantry and supported the Delta Seniors Club and the St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital. Born Jan. 15, 1930, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Anthony and Mary (Holboy) Kaluza.
She was preceded in death by her husband: William L. Schwartz.
She is survived by four children: Jo Ann (Don) Walker, Bill (Beth) Schwartz, Beth Ann (Mike) Rogers and John (Donna) Schwartz; four grandchildren: Steve (Katie) Renner, Robert (Julie) Renner, John and Isaiah Schwartz; six great-grandchildren plus twins on the way; five caregivers: Sharon Agne, Kim Weber, Kathy Scott, Luanne Lenick and Angela; her Pekingese dog: Beauty; and siblings, siblings-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins, neighbors and friends.
Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Sunday, July 17, at Collier’s Funeral Home, 3400 N. Lindbergh Blvd., in St. Ann. Funeral services will begin at 8:30 a.m. Monday, July 18, at the funeral home and continue with a 9 a.m. Mass at All Souls Catholic Church, 9550 Tennyson Ave., in Overland officiated by the Rev. James Gray. Burial will be at the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, P.O. Box 1000, Dept. 142, Memphis TN 38101. Arrangements are under the direction of Collier’s Funeral Home.
