Joseph David Beffa, 73, of Caledonia died April 10, 2017, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Beffa was a member of Our Lady Catholic Church in Festus and a startup engineer and consultant to major oil companies. Born Feb. 28, 1944, in St. Louis, he was the son of Thelma E. (Cain) Beffa-Kersch of Festus and the late Joseph Theodore Beffa.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by his wife: Virginia Lee (Higgins) Beffa; a daughter: Amy (Randall) Rhodes of De Soto; three sons: Joseph “Joe” (Cheryl) Beffa, Matt Hammers and Nick Beffa, all of Festus; three sisters: Jo Ann (Kenneth) Cleair of Arcadia, Linda (Ron) Barks of Festus and Tina Weatherford of Georgia; five brothers: Augustus “Gus” Beffa of St. Louis, Jay (Darlene) Beffa of Festus, Daniel M. (Donna) Beffa of Festus, Michael (Chris) Beffa of Festus and Geno (Ruth) Beffa of Festus; 12 grandchildren: Nichole, Crystal, Amanda, Morgan, Matt Jr., A.J., Austin, Mitchell, Raymond, Marie, Tyson and Dominic; and five great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his stepfather: Edwin Kersh; and a stepdaughter: Teresa Michelle Courtois.
Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Wednesday, April 12, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m. Thursday, April 13, at the funeral home, officiated by Father Jeffrey Maassen. Burial is in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
