Johnny F. Adams, 58, of Chesterfield, formerly of Percy, Ill., died March 25, 2018, at Missouri Baptist Hospital in St. Louis County. Mr. Adams graduated from high school in Greenville before joining the National Guard, from which he was honorably discharged in 1983. He was an iron worker for Union Pacific for 14 years and a member of the Southern Illinois Erectors Iron Workers Union Local 392. He retired due to a job injury, after which he cared for a disabled man for 10 years and then cared for his mother. He was a member of the International Union of Operating Engineers, a lifetime member of the North American Hunting, Fishing, and Handyman Masters Club, the Martin Owners Club and, since 2012, the Harley Owners Club. He enjoyed nature, motorcycles, music, guitars and collecting Native American artifacts. Born Jan. 30, 1960, in Amarillo, Texas, he was the son of Michael Adams of Weldon Springs and the late Landon Adams.
In addition to his mother, he is survived by two brothers: Matt Adams of Jackson and Landon (Karen) Adams of Sedalia; two sisters: Dede (Ron) VerVynck and Rhonda “Shady” (Floyd) Phelps; a special nephew: Dr. Josh (Stephanie) Adams of Weldon Springs and their children Joshua, Cole, Tyler and Brooklyn; five other nieces and nephews: Tiffany and Tyler VerVynck of Cape Girardeau, Mandy Phelps of Jackson and Candice and Daniel of Sedalia; his special companion: Sherry Weber of Festus; a former brother-in-law: Tim (Lisa) Shoemaker and family of De Soto; many other family members and friends; and his dog: Miss Lucky.
He was preceded in death by a sister: Regina; and his grandparents.
A private service and burial were held in Paducah, Ky. A celebration of life weekend camping event will be held at a later date in Bonne Terre. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association.
