John R. Gegg; 60, of Bonne Terre died July 15, 2017, at Fountainbleau Nursing Center in Festus. Mr. Gegg was the owner and operator of MG Trucking. He was a member of St. Joseph Church in Bonne Terre and Knights of Columbus Council 1088. Born Nov. 2, 1956, in St. Louis, he was the son of Betty Juel (Potamitis) Gegg of Festus and the late Welton F. Gegg. He is survived by his wife: Brenda (McMunn) Gegg; a daughter: Stephanie Echevarria of Wyandotte, Mich.; a foster son: Mark McDunn of Detroit, Mich.; a sister: Mary (the late Mike) Dill of Festus; three brothers: Mark (Donna) Gegg of Festus; Stephen (Leslie) Gegg of Norfolk, Va., and David (Kathleen) Gegg of Festus; two grandchildren: Vasil “Venny” Nestorovski and Elena Echevarria; and numerous nieces and nephews.
A memorial gathering is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, July 28, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main, in Festus. Memorial Mass will be at 10 a.m. Saturday, July 29, at St. Joseph Church, 15 St. Joseph St., in Bonne Terre, officiated by Father Stephen Bauer. Burial is in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the ASPCA or to St. Joseph Church in Bonne Terre. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
