John Philip Wagner Sr., 69, of Festus died July 10, 2016, at St. Anthony’s Medical Center in St. Louis County. Mr. Wagner was an assembler for the Chrysler Corp. in Fenton and a longtime bus driver for Second Baptist Church in Festus. He was a member of Lighthouse Baptist Church in Festus. He served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War. Born Dec. 17, 1946, in St. Charles, he was the son of the late Ruby (Wilson) and Philip H. Wagner.

He is survived by his wife: Brenda (Becker) Wagner; a daughter: Kimberly Diane Wagner of Festus; two sons: Navy Mass Communications Spc. John Wagner Jr. of San Diego and James “Patrick” Wagner of Festus; four sisters: Geraldine Valentine of De Soto, Dorothy Parks of Farmington, Martha (the late Doug) Smith of Herculaneum and Linda (the late Jim) Hill of Hermann; four brothers: Michael (Mary) Wagner of Washington, Charles (Joy) Wagner of Springfield, Ill., Thomas (Paula) Wagner of Festus and Bill Wagner of Pevely; special niece and nephew: Rebecca and Spc. Andrew Smith; a brother-in-law: Bill Becker; and a sister-in-law: Bonnie Smith.

Visitation will be from 4-8 p.m. Thursday, July 14, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Friday, July 15, at the funeral home, officiated by the Rev. Pete Ruble. Burial will be in Rose Lawn Memorial Gardens in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or the USO.
