John “Pat” Prader, 81, of Pevely died May 1, 2020. Mr. Prader retired as vice president of Betz-Dearborn Inc. He was a member of the Knights of Columbus Council 1230 in Crystal City, a board member of the Urological Research Foundation, a member of Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Crystal City and a Scoutmaster from 1978-1984 after earning the rank of Eagle Scout. He graduated from Assumption High School in 1956 and from Southern Illinois University Edwardsville in 1967 with a bachelor’s degree in chemistry. He enjoyed golfing, fishing, horseracing, poker, organizing family reunions, meeting with high school alumni, wintering in Florida and Texas and watching the Cardinals’ spring training games. He and his wife traveled extensively worldwide and visited all 50 states. Born Oct. 17, 1938, in East St. Louis, Ill., he was the son of the late Clara C. (Wiegers) and George J. Prader Sr.

He is survived by his wife: Karen R. (Charboneau) Prader; three sons: Pat (Tobie) Prader II of Evansville, Ill., Jim (Sue) Prader of Waterloo, Ill. and Chris (Kelli) Prader of Indianapolis, Ind.; a daughter: Lori (Lawrence) Moallankamp of Columbia, Ill.; three stepchildren: Sara (Steve) Floyd of Festus, Scott (Tasha) Davis of De Soto and Jonathon (Mindy) Davis of De Soto; 16 grandchildren: Jamie, Elly, Abby, Ashley, Kyle, Lauren, Austin, Gracie, Jeremy, Kristin, Hanna, Brandon, Kendall, Kaleb, Aubrey and Reid; nine great-grandchildren: Johnathon, Zoeey, Sylvia, Julian, Vivian, Addy, Clara, Wyatt and Jaxson with one on the way; three siblings-in-law: Francie (Rolfe) Wagner, Barb Charboneau and Richard (Becky) Charboneau; a lifetime friend: Larry Westbrook; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by a son: Timothy “Red” J. Prader; a brother: George J. Prader Jr.; two sisters: Dorothy “Dot” Feigl and Rita Mae Crow; and a stepdaughter: Jerrie Ranee Davis.

Services will be private. Burial will be in Mount Carmel Cemetery in Belleville, Ill. Celebration of life will be at a later date. Memorials may be made to the Urological Research Foundation or the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Leesman Funeral Home, Columbia, Ill.
