Lindsay, Jack

John D. “Jack” Lindsay, 87, of De Soto died Dec. 12, 2019, in Festus. Mr. Lindsay grew up in Westport, Conn., playing football and track at the local schools he attended, and graduated from Fairfield University in Fairfield, Conn.  He served in the U.S. Army and worked as a business analyst for United Advertisers in Norwalk, Conn. He was a member of the Catholic faith and was involved with The Heritage Foundation, USO, DAV and animal rescue. His passions included cars with stick shifts, motorcycles, yardwork and photography at his home on The Point at Valle Lake in De Soto. He lived in Missouri for 23 years, the last three of which were spent at Crystal Oaks Nursing Home, and was a fan of St. Louis sports teams, despite his East Coast relatives’ efforts to make him a New England Patriots fan. Born Jan. 29, 1932, in Norwalk, Conn., he was the son of the late William T. and Cora C. Lindsay.

He is survived by the following family members: Philip Cunningham of Lexington, Mass., Cynthia McCormack of Gorham, Maine, Paul Cunningham of Sarasota, Fla., Judith Krumme of Concord, Mass., Anne Lynott of Gettysburg, Pa., Philip Clark of Long Island, N.Y., Tony Lovejoy of Wilbraham, Mass., Lynn Hallowell of Springfield, Mass., Sam Lovejoy of Montague, Mass., Mike Lovejoy of Huntersville, N.C., and Dr. William Ayers of Bethesda, Md.

He was preceded in death by a brother: Thomas A. Lindsay of Morrow, Ga.

Memorials may be made to The Heritage Foundation, USO, DAV, and animal rescue. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in De Soto.
