John Charles Messmer, 69, of Fenton died June 25, 2019, in Fenton. Mr. Messmer was a veteran of the U.S. Army, a Catholic and a member of the North American Falconers Association. Born April 27, 1950, in Valley Park, he was the son of the late Dorothy (Johnson) and Nick Messmer.
He is survived by his wife of 49 years: Margaret (Hunt) Messmer; two sons: Greg (Tammy) Messmer of Arnold and Grant Messmer of Fenton; 10 siblings: Rose Horton of Kimmswick, Elaine (Ralph) Reed of Arnold, Nick (Diane) Messmer of De Soto, Mike (Holly) Messmer of Gerald, Raymond (Krista) Messmer of Arnold, Deborah (Steve) Fink of Hillsboro, Ann Wren of Hillsboro, George (Donna) Messmer of Dittmer, Joe Messmer of Kimmswick and Pete Messmer of Arnold; and three grandchildren: Alex, Adam and Abigail Messmer, all of Arnold.
He was preceded in death by three siblings: Fred Johnson, Calvin Johnson and Dorothy Dieckman.
Memorial service will be at 11:30 a.m. Friday, July 19, at the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks, officiated by Father Kevin Callahan. Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation.
