Mangan, Joann

JoAnn Mangan, 69, of Festus died Sept. 20, 2017, at her home. Mrs. Mangan was retired after teaching English, speech and drama for 31 years in the Festus R-6 School District. She also was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Crystal City. Born Oct. 16, 1947, in Festus, she was the daughter of the late Marian Helen (Queenan) and Joseph Wilber Martin.

She is survived by her husband: Terry Mangan; two sons: Doug (Eydie) Thurman of Festus and Lance (Janice) Mangan of Festus; four daughters: Trisha (Mark) Lalumondier of Hendersonville, Tenn., Amy (Richard) Janik of Jasper, Texas, Kelly Mangan of Festus and Casey (Lance) Young of Louisiana; a brother: Gerald Martin of Festus; two sisters-in-law: Bonnie Martin of Festus and Teddi Martin of Imperial; 12 grandchildren: Kelsey (Cornelius) Ukena, Claire Thurman, Korryn Lalumondier, Zachary Lalumondier, Nolan Mangan, Haley (Devin) MacManus, Ryan Janik, Kiley Janik, Ashley Jeanott, Adam Jeanott, Bailey Young and Bryce Young; and a great-grandson: Cain MacManus.

She was preceded in death by two brothers: Charles H. Martin and Leon W. Martin.

A funeral service was held Sept. 23 at Immanuel Lutheran Church, officiated by Pastor Kyle Castens. Memorials may be made to the JoAnn Thurman Mangan Scholarship Fund at Festus High School. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
