Joan Marie Simpson, 95, of Herculaneum died Dec. 26, 2022, at Scenic Nursing Home in Herculaneum. Born Jan. 30, 1927, in Festus, she was the daughter of the late Mary (Partney) and Alfonse Laiben.
She was preceded in death by her husband: Robert Simpson.
She is survived by a daughter: Candy (Frederick) Langmaier of Bonita Springs, Fla.; two brothers: Patrick (Kim) Laiben of Zanesville, Ohio, and Michael (Holly) Laiben of Palm City, Fla.; two granddaughters: Holly Nienaber and Erik Langmaier; three great-grandchildren; and two great-great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by a daughter: Robin Simpson; and four siblings: Winnie (Don of Festus survives) Boyd, Sam Laiben, James (the late Norman) Laiben and Mary (the late Rob) Luhn.
Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Jan. 4, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
