Joan Ann Keppler, 83, of Festus died Feb. 25, 2022, at her home. Mrs. Keppler was a retired social worker with the Jefferson County Division of Family Services and was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City. She enjoyed shopping, reading, doing jigsaw puzzles, gardening, watching birds, playing mah jongg and spending time with family and friends. Born Sept. 26, 1938, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Arimenta Marie (Short) and Robert Hughe Clarke. She was preceded in death by her husband of 57 years: John Keppler.
She is survived by a son: Robert Joseph Keppler of Imperial; a daughter: Constance Marie (Mel) Maupin of Festus; two grandchildren: Morgan Nichole (Henry) Kimbrell and Joseph Robert Keppler-Alt; and two great-grandsons: Henry Michael Paul Kimbrell and Tristan John Kimbrell.
Visitation is scheduled from 4 p.m. until a funeral service at 7:30 p.m. Thursday, March 3, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W Main, in Festus, officiated by Deacon Jerry Stoverink. Burial will take place at a later date in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the American Lung Association or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
