Jennifer Margaret Scalzitti, 55, Festus

Jennifer Margaret Scalzitti, 55, of Festus died Oct. 27, 2021, at Mercy Hospital South in St. Louis County. Mrs. Scalzitti was an active member of Our Lady Catholic Church in Festus. She was a special education teacher and taught at the Fox C-6 School District for 31 years before retiring. Born April 11, 1966, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late A. Lucille (Belken) and C.E. “Kopie” Koppeis.

She is survived by her husband: John D. Scalzitti; two sons: Joe (Anne) Scalzitti of Festus and Tommy (Victoria) Scalzitti of Festus; five grandchildren: Charlie, Ben, Alex, Aurora and Coraline Scalzitti; three sisters: Sue (Dr. Frank) Luechtefeld of Chesterfield, Pat (the Rev. Mike) Burch of Farmington and Theresa (John) Ponzar of Festus; three brothers: Mike (Pat) Koppeis of Farmington, Joe (Patty) Koppeis of Columbia, Ill., and Chuck (Chris) Koppeis of Farmington; a sister-in-law: Filomena (Earl) Dawson of Bensenville, Ill.; three brothers-in-law: Larry (the late Cindy) Scalzitti of Griffith, Ill., Patrick (Mary) Scalzitti of Phoenix, Ariz., and Dominic (Denise) Scalzitti of Shiloh, Ill.

Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until the funeral Mass at 1 p.m. Monday, Nov. 1, at Our Lady Catholic Church, 1550 St. Mary’s Lane in Festus, officiated by Father Gregory Klump and the Rev. Mike Burch. Burial will be in Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to Our Lady Catholic Church, 1550 St. Mary’s Lane, Festus, 63028. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
