Jean Ellen Hardy, 80, of Desloge died Dec. 7, 2022, at her home. Mrs. Hardy was a 1960 graduate of Elvins High School and a 1964 graduate of the University of Missouri in Columbia with a bachelor’s degree in education, specializing in special education and gifted children. She taught in the De Soto and North County school districts until she began her family, then dedicated her life fully to her husband and children, extended family, her husband’s medical practice, philanthropic work and service to others. She was a member of Memorial United Methodist Church of Farmington. Born Feb. 18, 1942, in Ironton, she was the daughter of the late Garland Jasper and Mary Elizabeth (Robinson) Marler.
She is survived by her husband of 58 years: Dr. Stanton Lee Hardy; two children: Brian and Katherine “Kathy” Hardy; a stepdaughter: Stephanie (Raffy) Chilingerian; nine grandchildren: Madison, Alexandra and Blake Stanton Hardy, Sophia and Anna Caroline Hardy-Senkel, Collins Jean and Colbie Hardy and Lena Katherine and Harry Chilingerian; a brother: Steve (Cathy Rowe Marler) Marler; a special niece: Dr. Laura Hesemann; special friends Jackie Berry, Kayla Orindgreff, Aileen Thomas and Michael Brookreson; and several niece, nephews and cousins with whom she strived to maintain constant contact through hosting family events and reunions. She was preceded in death by a sister: Mary Del Koops.
Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Friday, Dec. 16, at C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home in Desloge. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. until a funeral service at 11 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 17, at the funeral home. Arrangements are under the direction of C. Z. Boyer & Son Funeral Home.
