James W. Owens, 51, Hillsboro

James W. Owens, 51, of Hillsboro died Nov. 29, 2021, at Mercy Hospital St. Louis in Creve Coeur. Mr. Owens was baptized at age 8 by his father, who was pastor at the old Oak Grove Baptist Church in Fletcher. He was a 1989 Hillsboro High School graduate and then served in the U.S. Navy for six years. He served for six years, including during the Persian Gulf War. Later, he worked as an auto mechanic at Dobbs Auto in High Ridge, and he was a member of Sandy Baptist Church in Hillsboro. He enjoyed sports and was a Kansas City Chiefs fan. He loved animals and will be remembered for his kind and caring personality. Born May 26, 1970, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Sandra (Willis) and James C. Owens.

He is survived by four children: Jordan, Devon, Mikalah and Emma; a sister: Melissa (Chris Steib) Owens of Hillsboro; a special niece: Faith Steib; a stepbrother: Dustin (Elizabeth) Hawkins of St. Louis; a stepmother: Donna Owens of Festus; a niece: Abigail (Josh) Steib; a great-niece: Delilah; and many other family and friends.

Visitation will be from 4 p.m. until the funeral services at 6 p.m. Monday (Dec. 6) at Mahn Twin City Chapel, 515 Collins Ave., in Festus, with Pastor Jimmy Turner officiating. Memorials may be made to H.E.R.O.E.S. Care, 330 Sun Valley Circle, Fenton, 63026, or Good Life Rescue, 74 Francois Dr., Herculaneum, 63048. Arrangements are under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel.
