Peck, James

James V. Peck, 74, of St. Clair died Feb. 25, 2022. Mr. Peck was a longtime member of Glencoe Community Church of God. He enjoyed the outdoors, hunting, fishing and gardening. He loved playing the guitar and listening to bluegrass music as well as spending time with his family and friends, especially his grandbabies. He was born Oct. 31, 1947, in Drill, Va., the son of the late Venery and Oakley (Blankenship) Peck.

He is survived by his wife: Brenda Peck; five children: James (Becky) Peck Jr., Linda (Tim) Nevills, Rhonda Curtis, Jennifer Jennings and Tina (Chad) Steffey; 14 grandchildren: Ashley (Dylan) Krepp, Alex (Ashley) Peck, Tyler (April) Adkins, Josh (Kersten) Curtis, Courtney (Drew) Schupp, Savannah Canter, Gloria Adkins, Cody Steffey, Camron Steffey, Dominick Steffey, Johnny Meyer, Logan Peck, Kaitlin Nevills and Kristian Steffey; eight great-grandchildren: Johnny Dawson, Jackson Dawson, Teddy Krepp, Paul Krepp, Blaine Adkins, Layla Peck, Shania Curtis and Carson Peck; four  siblings: Mary Russell, Acy Patton Peck, Randy (Judy) Peck and Myrtle Mullins; and many other family members and friends. He was preceded in death by two sons: Stanley Schulz and Bradley Peck; and a brother: Russell Peck.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Friday, March 4, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 5, at the funeral home. Burial will follow in the Carson Hill Cemetery in Ellsinore. Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society or to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
