James Turner Sr.

James E. Turner, 74, of De Soto died Feb. 11, 2018, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in CrystalCity. Mr. Turner was a truck driver, an Air Force veteran and a member of ParkviewBaptistChurch. He loved bluegrass and country music, restoring old cars, riding motorcycles, traveling and his R.V. He enjoyed spending time with family and friends. He started an annual Turner family reunion that brought together extended family from several states each year. Everyone enjoyed camping together at Meramec State Park during the reunion weekends. Born April 25, 1943, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Grover and Edna Turner and was the biological son of Timothy Turner and Vivian Null.

He is survived by his wife: Donna Sue (Crow) Turner of De Soto; three children: James (Beverly) Turner Jr. of Louisville, Ky., Chris (Amanda) Turner of Denver, Colo. and Lori (Chris) Corzine of St. Louis; his children’s mother: Sandy McCann; three sisters: Hazel (Jerry) McBroom, Shirley (Jim) Anderson and Doris (Jim) Courtois; six half-siblings: Gloria (Ray) Todd, Lanora Cordia, Timothy (June) Turner, Joe (Chris) Turner, George (Sharon) Turner and Gerald (Jill) Turner; three step-children: Johnny (Marie) Williams, Lisa (Jason) Yoast and Scott (Jessica) Williams; three grandchildren: Simon, Eli and Logan; six step-grandchildren: Lauren, Alex, Mikayla, Rachel, Anna and Quinn; one adoptive grandson: Ricky Williams; and a large extended family.

He was preceded in death by one grandson: Kylie Turner.

Funeral services were Feb. 15 at Parkview Baptist Church in De Soto, with Pastor Jake Adams and the Rev. Jim Owens officiating. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Funeral Home in De Soto.
