Jacob M. “Jake” Habsieger, 33, of Festus died March 5, 2018, at his home. Mr. Habsieger served as a specialist in the U.S. Army during Operation Iraqi Freedom and was discharged under the “Sole Survivor Act” in August of 2008. He was a deputy for the Jefferson County Sheriff’s Department, worked in construction and was an active member of the Andy Habsieger Foundation. Born June 27, 1984, in St. Louis, he was the son of Brenda (Hill) and Michael Habsieger of Festus.
In addition to his parents, he is survived by his wife: Amber L. (Malusky) Habsieger; a daughter: Taylor Nicole Habsieger; a son: Austin Andrew Habsieger; numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and friends; and a loyal companion, “Moose.”
He was preceded in death by a brother: PFC Andrew James Habsieger, U.S. Army; and grandparents Geraldine and Doyle Hill and Ruth and Earl Habsieger.
Visitation is scheduled from 2-6 p.m. Sunday, March 11, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. A funeral service will be held at 9:30 a.m. Monday, March 12, at the funeral home, officiated by Pastor Jarold Rux and Pastor Kyle Castens. Burial with full military honors will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Andy Habsieger Foundation or to K9s for Warriors. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
