Scotti, Ida

Ida Assunta Scotti, 100, of Festus died June 24, 2021, at her home. Mrs. Scotti had worked as a braille transcriber, printer and editor for the New York Association for the Blind and was a member of the Ozark Association of the Blind, the Missouri Council of the Blind, American Council of the Blind and the Lighthouse Players, a theater group. She was a member of Sacred Heart Church in Crystal City, where she served as a lector and was a member of the Legion of Mary; served on the Wolfner Library Advisory Council and on the Governor’s Committee for Education; and was a volunteer with the Girl Scouts of America. She was born Aug. 13, 1920, in New York City, the daughter of the late Maria (Conte) and Louis Scotti.

She is survived by a sister: Louise Sardo of Festus; and numerous nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by a brother Silvio (the late Sonia) Scotti; and two sisters: Lucy (the late John) Albano and Susan (the late Joseph) Pagano; and a brother-in-law: Michael Sardo. 

Visitation is scheduled from 5-8 p.m. Monday, June 28, at Vinyard Funeral Home, 616 W. Main St., in Festus. A funeral Mass will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, June 29, at Sacred Heart Church, officiated by Father Matthew Cheruparambil. Burial is in the Mount Hope Mausoleum in Lemay.  Memorials may be made to the American Cancer Society. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home.
