Hughey Fannen Burdin Sr., 81, of Bonne Terre died Jan. 29, 2017, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Burdin, a veteran of the U.S. Army, was a foreman with Laborers Local 110 and IUOE 513. He was a member of Lebanon Baptist Church in Bloomsdale, where he was a deacon and head of the cemetery board. Born Sept. 27, 1935, in Rector, Ark., he was the son of the late Lena (Berry) and Bennie Burdin.
He is survived by his wife: Shelby (Masters) Burdin; a daughter: Sharon (Robert) Sherrer of Bonne Terre; two sons: Hughey (June Williams) Burdin Jr. of Bonne Terre and Tim (Kathy) Burdin of Festus; two brothers: Alvie (Zell) Burdin of Piggot, Ark., and Victory Randle (Velda) Burdin of Festus; a sister: Ruby Irene Maddox of Piggot; a sister-in-law: Betty Burdin of Piggot; seven grandchildren: Bryan (Stephanie) Shaner, Kasey (Ryan) Nichols, Timothy Burdin II, Mary (Ryan) McAllister, Melissa Burdin, Robert (Amanda) Scherrer and Cassandra (Kasey) Zimpfer; and 10 great-grandchildren: Evie Shaner, Olin Shaner, Liam Nichols, Arwen Nichols, Ava Nichols, Stephen Marler, Robbie Scherrer III, Jase Zimpfer, Jordan Schwein and Ethan Smith. He was preceded in death by three sisters: Lula Beatrice Stevenson, Bessie Jane Burdin and Deloris Burdin; two brothers: James Edward Burdin and John “Rollen” Burdin; a sister-in-law: Claudia Burdin; and a great-granddaughter: Serenity Hope Nichols.
Visitation is at noon and a funeral service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2, at Lebanon Baptist Church, 31 Skywood Dr., in Bloomsdale, officiated by Pastor Jimmie Turner. Burial is in the Lebanon Baptist Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the Lebanon Baptist Cemetery Fund. Arrangements were under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
