Henry Underwood Stephens, 87, of Elkmont, Ala. died July 21, 2017. Mr. Stephens was an Air Force veteran and a member of Sardis Springs Baptist Church in Athens, Ala. Born June 7, 1930, in St. Louis, he was the son of Ben and Edith Stephens. He was married to his wife, Eudora, for 65 years.
In addition to his wife, he is survived by three sons: Henry “Ted” (Sue) Stephens and David N. (Penny) Stephens of Athens, Ala. and Mark A. (Barbara) Stephens of Barnhart; two daughters: Linda S. (John) King of Bowling Green, Ky. and Jacqueline L. (Greg) Merrell of Toney, Ala.; eight grandchildren: Stephenie King, Ben (Mari-Anne) Rolin, Bradley (Liesa) Stephens, Leslie (Daniel) Boatman, Hannah (Greg) Mueller, Luke Stephens, Paul (Sara) Stephens and Clay Stephens; and five great-grandchildren: Wyatt, Carter, Ava, Bella and Roxie Gail.
A funeral service was held July 25 at Sardis Springs Baptist Church in Athens, Ala. Burial was at Sardis Springs Baptist Church Cemetery. Memorials may be made to the KY Campers Mission c/o Suellen Hendricks, 93 Osage Drive, Cadiz, Ky. 42211. Arrangements were under the direction of Legacy Chapel Funeral Home and Crematory of Madison, Ala.
