Helen Elizabeth Emerson, 102, of De Soto died Dec. 18, 2021, at Baisch Nursing Center. Mrs. Emerson was a retired machine operator for Alumux Aluminum. She was a member of Redeemer Lutheran Church and the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers District 6. She enjoyed murder-mystery novels, shopping, cooking, baking and spending time with her family, including trips to the Muny Opera and the St. Louis Zoo. Born June 16, 1919, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of Zelonia Victoria (Bess) and Robert Teasley Christopher.
She was preceded in death by two sisters: Estelle Haverstick and Zenobia LaRose; and three brothers: Clifford Christopher, Clyde Christopher and Roscoe Christopher.
Graveside service will be at 2 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 21, at Woodlawn Cemetery in De Soto, officiated by the Rev. G. Michael Rose. Memorials may be made to Redeemer Lutheran Church, 1620 Boyd St., in De Soto. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, De Soto.
