Harold L. Kemper, 88, of De Soto died June 18, 2018, at Mercy Hospital Jefferson in Crystal City. Mr. Kemper was a retired veteran. Born May 12, 1930, in St. Louis, he was the son of the late Theodore Kemper and Laura (Heggi) Graul and was raised by his grandparents, the late Henry and Clara Kemper. He was preceded in death by two wives: Virginia Rose (Pashia) Kemper and Anna Jane (DeGonia) Williams Kemper.
He is survived by six children: JoAnn Proffer of De Soto, Harold Kemper Jr. of Cadet, Mark Kemper of Chattanooga, Tenn., Donald Kemper of De Soto, Gary Kemper of Brentwood, Tenn., and Randy Kemper of De Soto; eight stepchildren: Virginia DuRain of Jacksonville, Ark., Larry Levall of De Soto, Linda Levall of De Soto, Mary Williams of Hamilton, Ga., Becky (Ed) Millinger of Ste. Genevieve, Kelly Thréanfhir of Ireland, Frank M. (Jackie) Williams of Mt. Vernon, Ill., and Steven T. (Joan) Williams of Columbia; a niece: Youn Ok (Nathan Hamilton) Lee of Chapel, N.C.; a great-nephew: Amos; and numerous grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by a stepson: Clifford Levall; two siblings: Doris DuRain, Arlene Schonechoberg; and a half brother: William Obermeyer.
A funeral procession will assemble at 10 a.m. Friday, July 13, at Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home, 220 N. Main St., in De Soto. Graveside services will follow at 11 a.m. at Mt. Hope Cemetery, 1215 Lemay Ferry Road, in Lemay. Arrangements are under the direction of Dietrich-Mothershead Funeral Home.
