Glenda Lorraine (Hopkins) Leitterman, 96, of Springfield, formerly of Crystal City, died Feb. 22, 2014, at Cox Hospital South in Springfield. Mrs. Leitterman was a graduate of Farmington High School and the Missouri Beauty Academy and was the proprietor of Paul’s Beauty Salon until her children were born. Later, she was employed by Crystal City Elementary School as a cashier and dessert baker. She was a member of Grace Presbyterian Church in Crystal City and a past member of Business and Professional Women. She was known for being an excellent cook and a green-thumb gardener. She loved a good card game and belonged to several bridge clubs up until her death. Born Sept. 24, 1917, in Farmington, she was the daughter of the late T.A. and Minnie Hopkins.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Dennis J. Leitterman; and six siblings.
She is survived by three daughters: Gloria (Richard) Eskew of Springfield, Deanna (Dave) Sampson of Yuma, Ariz., and Kay Mason of Springfield; a son: Dennis (Pam) Leitterman of Sunnyvale, Calif.; a sister: Helen Marie (Herbert) McKelvey; seven grandchildren: Charles Snedden, Lorraine Snedden Harrison, Keith (Tammy) Sampson, Michelle Sampson (Joseph) Vielbig, Brett Mason, Eric Leitterman and Craig Leitterman; and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at Covenant Presbyterian Church in Springfield; then at 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 29, at Grace Presbyterian Church in Crystal City. Burial is in the Sacred Heart Cemetery in Crystal City. Memorials may be made to Covenant Presbyterian Church or Grace Presbyterian Church. Arrangements are under the care of Gorman-Scharpf Funeral Home in Springfield.
