Glee Horn, 80, of Troy died Aug. 29, 2014, at the Lincoln County Nursing and Rehabilitation center in Troy. Mrs. Horn had a bachelor’s degree in music and was a music educator for private and parochial schools. She also taught private lessons and loved all musical instruments, with the cello being her favorite. Born Feb. 5, 1934, in Scott City, Kan., she was the daughter of the late Oran and Marguerite (Bono) Shearer.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Donnel Horn, Jr. whom she married on Aug. 12, 1955, in Lawrence, Kan.
She is survived by two daughters: Regina (Michael) Sippel of Jacksonville, Fla., and Susan (Jon) Schroeter of Troy; one son: Donnel (Dawn) Horn of Hillsboro; six grandchildren; one great-grandchild; two brothers: John Shearer of Wichita, Kan., and James (Judy) Shearer of North Carolina; one sister: Beth Johnson of Derby, Kan.; and many other relatives and friends.
Funeral Mass is scheduled for 10 a.m. Tuesday, Sept. 2, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Troy, officiated by the Rev. Tom Wissler. Burial is in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association. Arrangements are under the direction of McCoy-Blossom Funeral Home in Troy.
