Gertrude Stevens, 74, of Festus died Aug. 25, 2016, in Festus. Mrs. Stevens and her husband owned and operated Stevens Heating & Cooling Co. for 44 years. She was a member of First Baptist Church of Horine and enjoyed reading, yard work and planting flowers. Born Sept. 30, 1941, in Marked Tree, Ark., she was the daughter of the late Charles Edward and Hazel Juanita (Vannatter) Madden.
She is survived by her husband: Johnnie Stevens of Festus; a son: Johnnie (Angel) Stevens Jr. of Branson; a daughter: Joyce Stevens of Festus; two brothers: Ernest (Goldie) Madden of Truman, Ark., and Johnny (Pam) Madden of Jonesboro, Ark.; a sister: Barbara Lairson of Ravenden, Ark.; and six grandchildren: Kristina Stevens of Anchorage, Alaska; Johnathan Stevens of Park Hills; Johnnie Stevens III of St. Louis; Jennifer Stevens of Branson; Jamie Richey of Hillsboro; and Crystal Richey of Hillsboro.
Funeral services were private, officiated by Pastor Randy Casey. Memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice. Arrangements were under the direction of Mahn Twin City Chapel in Festus.
