Darrough, gertie

Gertie Darrough, 86, of Hillsboro died Aug. 11, 2018, at de Greeff Hospice House in St. Louis County. Mrs. Darrough was a member of the St. Louis Seventh Day Adventist Church. She loved traveling, crafts, fishing and gardening. Born Jan. 24, 1932, in St. Louis, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth and Anthony Kistner.

She is survived by her husband: Fred E. Darrough; five children: Guy (Doris) Darrough of Cadet, Craig (Patricia) Darrough of St. Joseph, Scott Darrough of Hillsboro, Fred (Julie) Darrough of Cuba, Mo., and Debra (Albert) Sims of Londell; four grandchildren: Grant (Jasmine) Darrough, Colleen (Mark) Barbay, Gage (Riley) Darrough and Wyatt Sims; three great-grandchildren: Landon Darrough, Avery Darrough and Caden Cash; a sister: Shirley Steinkamp; the mother of two grandchildren, Mechele Johnson; and many family members and friends.

She was preceded in death by three siblings: Catherine (Robert) Woerdman, Arthur (Laverne) Kistner and Mary (Mick) McGuire; and a brother-in-law: Warren Steinkamp.

Visitation is at 10 a.m. and a funeral service at 1 p.m. Saturday, Aug. 18, at Chapel Hill Mortuary, 6300 Hwy. 30, in Cedar Hill. Memorials may be made to the de Greeff Hospice House, 10010 Kennerly Road, St. Louis, 63128; or the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 1972 Innerbelt Business Center, St. Louis, 63114. Arrangements are under the direction of Chapel Hill Mortuary.
