Gerene Prockl, 91, of Festus died April 1, 2019, at Scenic Nursing and Rehab Center in Herculaneum. Mrs. Prockl worked with her husband in his shop, G & N Enterprise, which opened in 1977. She also was a member of Immanuel Lutheran Church in Barnhart and faithfully participated in Sunday worship services.
Born April 19, 1927, in Boss, she was the daughter of the late Pearlie (Short) and Dallas F. Hutson. She was preceded in death by her husband of 55 years: Nelson Charles Prockl.
She is survived by two sons: Gerry (Lisa) Prockl of Watertown, Wis., and Kenneth (Lois) Prockl of Tennessee; one daughter: Carol Prockl of Festus; one sister: Emma (the late Willard) Hill of Boss; and several grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by three sisters: Lottie Hutson, Irene Hutson and Noga (the late Melvin) Myers; and four sisters-in-law: Bertha (the late Morrie) Grossman, Hilda (the late Nick) Pope, Gertrude (the late Ray) Huss and Elsie (the late Walter) Hunkler.
Visitation will be from 9:30 a.m. until the funeral services at 11 a.m. Saturday, April 13, at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Barnhart, officiated by Pastor Alan Bachert. Burial will be in the National Cemetery at Jefferson Barracks. Memorials may be made to the music fund at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Barnhart or the American Heart Association. Arrangements are under the direction of Vinyard Funeral Home in Festus.
