Brooks, Geraldine

Geraldine Rae “Gerry” (Stack) Brooks, 85, Hillsboro died July 6, 2021, at her home. Born March 22, 1936, in Gerald, she was the daughter of the late Lillian Blankenship and James Stack. Mrs. Brooks was raised in rural Sullivan on the Indian Creek and graduated from the Sullivan School District. She was co-owner of Brooks Tuckpointing and a 50-plus-year member of the First Baptist Church in Hillsboro. She enjoyed singing in the choir and was active in her church and community. She was preceded in death by her husband: Samuel James Lee “Sam” Brooks

She is survived by three sons: Timothy James Brooks of Hillsboro, Craig Michael (Ann) Brooks of Festus and Brian Jay Brooks of Hillsboro; four grandchildren: Morgan Anna (Dillion) Smith of Festus, Jacob Matthew Brooks of Hillsboro, Alexander Michael Brooks of Festus and Cory Aaron Brooks of Hillsboro; five great-grandchildren: Trenton Smith, Autumn Smith, Logan Smith, Elijah Brooks and Josiah Brooks; a brother: Doyle (Marybeth) Stack of Stanton; a sister: Jerine Farrell of Sullivan; three sisters-in-law: Mary Sue Stack, Reda Glore and Pam Stack, all of Sullivan; and numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.

She was preceded in death by three brothers: James Stack, William Stack and Paul Stack; and a brother-in-law: George Farrell.

Visitation is scheduled from 4-8 p.m. Monday, July 12, at Robert D. Brown Funeral Home, 103 Fourth St., in Hillsboro. A funeral service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, July 14, at the funeral home chapel. Memorials may be made to First Baptist Church of Hillsboro or to Autism Speaks. Arrangements are under the direction of Robert D. Brown Funeral Home.
