Geraldine “Gerry” (Longhibler) Hoelzer, 85, of Fenton died Oct. 29, 2018. Mrs. Hoelzer was devoted to her family and her church, the First Baptist Church of Fenton. She taught kindergarten at the Fenton United Methodist Church for over 40 years. She also taught preschool. She was a talented baker and cake decorator and provided many meals and bread rolls to people in their time of need. In her later years, her passion was the ladies’ Tuesday morning Bible study at the First Baptist Church of Fenton, and she loved to study the Scriptures and spend time with the ladies from the class.
She was the daughter of the late Lester and Ann Longhibler. She was preceded in death by her husband of 64 years: John W. Hoelzer.
She is survived by five children: Richard (Kathy), Rod (Theresa), Terry (Barb), Gary (Shari) and Lisa (Chris Schkerke); two siblings: Vernon Longhibler and Judy Koebel; 19 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren; and many nieces, nephews and friends.
Memorial services will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 1, at First Baptist Church of Fenton, 650 Oakwood Drive, immediately followed by graveside services at Sunset Memorial Park and Mausoleum.
